Season 2014 - 2015

Dear Friends;

Welcome to Silver Jubilation year with the Veronika String Quartet!

The 2014-15 season is a very special one to all of us. It is hard to believe that we are actually entering the year of our 25th anniversary! We celebrate this coming season with three regularly scheduled programs in Pueblo and Colorado Springs in October, January and May, and a special celebration program in March.

We are dedicating our Silver Jubilee season to the celebration of works by Tchaikovsky. Our programs will additionally offer a wide variety of masterworks of chamber music repertoire. The season opener is a program entitled Great Tradition. It is an homage to the music of our birth country, Russia. The program includes String Quartet No. 1, in D Major, Op. 11, “Accordion” by P. I. Tchaikovsky; Three Pieces for String Quartet (1914) by I. Stravinsky; and String Quartet No. 2, in F Major, Op. 92 by S. Prokofiev.

Our Second program, Transcendency, is dedicated to music of our new home, the US. This program includes String Quartet No. 1, “A Revival Service” and Scherzo for String Quartet by C. Ives, which are contrasted and complemented by String Quartet No. 3, in E Flat Minor, Op. 30 by P. I. Tchaikovsky.

Our Special concert Celebration! will feature renown guest artists Basil Vendryes, viola, and Roza Borisova, cello in Souvenir de Florence for String Sextet, in D Major, Op. 70 by P. I. Tchaikovsky. This very diverse program also includes String Quartet in D Major, Op. 64, No. 5, “The Lark” by F. J. Haydn, and String Quartet No. 1, Op. 20 by A. Ginastera.

Our closing program of the season, Lineage, is dedicated to our beloved mentors Valentin Berlinsky, formerly of the Borodin Quartet and Henry Meyer, formerly of the LaSalle Quartet. Jeremy Reynolds will be joining us for the Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K. 581, “Stadler's Quintet” by W. A. Mozart. The Quintet will be followed by Five Movements for String Quartet, Op. 5 by A. Webern, and String Quartet No. 2, in F Major, Op. 22 by P. I. Tchaikovsky.

Our season will be filled with visiting schools and retirement communities, and many celebratory events always with good music, great food, wonderful memories and visiting with cherished friends.

We are truly looking forward to seeing you all to share our beloved music with you this anniversary season!
